Performance Evaluations

In ASI, our LEAP program is connected to our student evaluation process, giving students additional opportunities for growth and development. Our process allows the students to evaluate themselves through the use of guided questions and a matrix/rubric that is centered around our LEAP learning outcomes.

Timeline

Use Rubric to circle or highlight components that best represent their current skills in each category

Identify what level they are currently at (rate themselves) using the Rubric - see below 

Distribute rubric to students


Collect Rubric from students, complete with student signature and/or initials and notes detailing agreements/goals/discussion

December | Mid-Year Check in or exit interview

Complete form prior to 1:1 with supervisor

Mid-year Check-in:
  • Schedule 1:1s with each student
  • Supervisor and Student determine where they think student should be rated according to the Rubric prior to 1:1 meeting
  • Conduct 1:1s using Rubric and Self-Evaluation forms
Exiting Students:
  • Work to schedule exit interview with 2 ASI professional staff and one outside professional staff (as applicable - try to engage staff that have worked with student in some capacity)
April - May 

Exiting: None 

Returning: 

  • Use Rubric to circle or highlight components that best represent their current skills in each category
  • Identify what level they are currently at (rate themselves) using the Rubric - see below
  • Complete form prior to 1:1 with supervisor
Exiting Students:
  • Schedule 1:1s with each student that is not returning to ASI the following year.
  • Work to schedule exit interview with 2 ASI professional staff and one outside professional staff (as applicable - try to engage staff that have worked with student in some capacity)
Returning Students: 
  • Schedule 1:1s with each student
  • Supervisor and Student determine where they think student should be rated according to the Rubric prior to 1:1 meeting
  • Conduct 1:1s using Rubric and Self-Evaluation forms
Students exiting ASI outside of the timeline

Schedule 1:1 with student

Schedule exit interview with ASI supervisor (and ASI Executive Director as applicable)
