The Dance Studies Program at CSU San Marcos is committed to offering students an understanding of contemporary dance practice and performance within an ever-changing social and political context. Through collaborative and community-based projects, students gain an appreciation and respect for diversity and inclusivity through embodied learning. Students can pursue a Minor in Dance Studies or design a Special Major, which can include a dance/performance component in conjunction with another discipline.

through feeling first is a collaborative practice of becoming present — of attuning to our many selves, to each other, to the textures of reality and desire. Dancing-thinking alongside echoes of Tina Campt, Arthur Jafa, Mike Vargas, Susan Leigh Foster, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Chris Aiken, and Angie Hauser, students from DNCE 311: Movement Improvisation have cultivated through feeling first as an immersive terrain for sensing, listening, and reorienting together — with sound design by Onward.tools.
Onward.tools are portals for TRAVLing through feeling first. They guide you to an event in [Feeling, Space, & Time] — a [coordinate], where you meet other TRAVLRs and coordinate (sharing TRUTHs, Memories, and Stories). This coordination creates sound — an imprint to carry onward as you advance your Life’s journey.
Meet us in ARTS 101 Blackbox Studio on November 20th and 21st at 7pm to experience the transformative power of presence.
Two performances only! Get your tickets by clicking the button below ($5 for students, $10 for general admission).
