Categories for Math/Quantitative Reasoning

M1 - Fulfilled requirement
M2 - Enroll in general education (GE) math/quantitative reasoning courses
M3 - Enroll in supported GE math/quantitative reasoning courses (participation in Early Start is recommended)
M4 - Enroll in supported GE math/quantitative reasoning courses (participation in Early Start is strongly recommended)

All students are highly encouraged to complete their B4 graduation requirement in their first year at ��.

Please note that your placement category may change if you change your major and/or when your final high school and college transcripts have been received and reviewed.

Reasoning Placement for Algebra-Intensive Majors

Algebra-intensive majors include applied physics, biological sciences, biochemistry, biotechnology, business administration, chemistry, computer science, economics, engineering, kinesiology (option in motion science) and liberal studies with an area of focus in math. Students in these majors are strongly encouraged to participate in a further placement process to possibly upgrade their placement and shorten their time to degree. Reasoning Placement for Non-Algebra Intensive Majors

Non-algebra-intensive majors include American Indian studies, anthropology, child and adolescent development, communication, criminology and justice studies, environmental studies, global studies, history, human development, kinesiology (option in health science), liberal studies, literature and writing studies, media studies, music, nursing, political science, psychological science, social sciences, sociology, Spanish, speech-language pathology, visual and performing arts, and women’s, gender and sexuality studies.

M1 - Fulfilled requirement: Student has fulfilled GE B4 requirement and is permitted to enroll in the next level of math as appropriate for major.
M2 - Enroll in GE math/quantitative reasoning courses: Student has met standards, ready to enroll in a B4-level math course for the major. Double check your degree planner.
M3 - Enroll in supported GE math/quantitative reasoning courses (participation in Early Start is recommended). Options include:
- Placement in MATH 101 and MATH 1 (double check your degree planner)
  or
- Fall placement for students who have completed ESM 104 and ESM 4 at �� with a grade of B-minus or better through Early Start.
M4 - Enroll in supported GE math/quantitative reasoning courses (participation in Early Start is strongly recommended)
- Placement in MATH 101 and MATH 1 (double check your degree planner)
  or
- Fall placement for students who have completed ESM 104 and ESM 4 at �� with a grade of B-minus or better through Early Start.
