Expectations and Access

The ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø community has access to services offered by the Office of Conflict Resolution when a conflict or concern arises and attempts to resolve the conflict are unsuccessful.

Scope, Definition and Authority

The Office of Conflict Resolution (OCR) serves all ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø students, staff, faculty and administrators by providing neutral, equitable processes for addressing conflict and conduct concerns. Operating independently from Human Resources, Student Affairs and Faculty Affairs, OCR has the authority to make recommendations and coordinate with appropriate campus partners when needed. While not an advocate for any individual party, OCR promotes peaceful resolution through both formal and informal pathways.

Access to Services

OCR offers both formal and informal pathways to address conflicts or concerns that impact ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø’s learning, living and working environment. Before accessing services, individuals are encouraged to first try resolving the issue directly or with a supervisor’s support. OCR provides structured processes — from intake to recommendations — depending on the nature and complexity of the concern.

Statement of Confidentiality and Privacy

OCR handles all matters with great care, but it is not a confidential resource and has a duty to report certain concerns under university policy or law. While some information must be shared in limited situations, OCR prioritizes privacy and works closely with involved parties to manage how information is shared and protected. Sensitive data is stored securely, and efforts are made to neutralize and anonymize details when appropriate
