It covers strategies like scanning menus for nutritious options, controlling portion sizes, swapping ingredients for healthier alternatives, and balancing indulgences with nutritious sides. The workshop empowers individuals to enjoy dining out while maintaining a well-rounded diet.

Cougar Cooking Basics is all about gaining essential kitchen skills to create nutritious meals with confidence. It starts with understanding the fundamental functions of a kitchen鈥攈ow to safely use appliances, organize ingredients, and maintain cleanliness. Mastering basic knife techniques, such as dicing, mincing, chopping, and slicing, ensures precision and efficiency when preparing meals.

We will be learning how to make salsa and nachos will be served. 

Students who participate, will be entered to win a $50 gift card to Sprouts or $25 to Target (2 prizes)

Cultural Holiday Meals (Cook & Connect) is a celebration of traditions through food, bringing people together to prepare meaningful dishes from different cultures. It encourages learning about the history behind holiday meals while sharing flavors that connect communities.

Beans & Whole Grains: Building Healthy Bowls teaches the essentials of cooking whole grains and beans, crafting flavorful dressings, and assembling nutrient-packed bowls. With grains like quinoa or brown rice, protein-rich beans, fresh vegetables, and tasty toppings, these bowls are balanced, customizable, and easy to prepare.

Healthy Breakfasts focuses on starting the day with balanced, nutritious meals. It covers easy ways to incorporate protein, fiber, and healthy fats into breakfast, whether through smoothies, oatmeal, eggs, or whole-grain options. Participants learn how to build energizing meals that support overall well-being and keep them fueled throughout the day.

It covers pasta selection, cooking techniques, and sauce pairings鈥攆rom classic marinara to creamy, herb-infused options. The workshop highlights simple, nutritious ingredients that make every meal satisfying and customizable.
