Demiana Hanna, SI Mentor

Demiana is a third-year student majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Balancing her academic responsibilities, she also serves as an SI Mentor and gains hands-on experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care clinic. Her commitment extends to volunteering at a nearby hospital, where she is actively involved in patient care and community service. Driven by a passion for pediatric medicine, Demiana aspires to become a physician who not only delivers exceptional care to young patients but also sheds light on the intricacies of medicine to those who need it.

Nessa is a psychology major with a minor in biology. Apart from being a supplementary instructor, she works as a data coordinator and manager in Dr. Pulver's NIH-funded study, as well as a research assistant in Dr. Sherafat's rodent lab. She's super passionate about research and educating others on the brain! Her current research projects focus on the interaction between nicotinic modulators and implications on learning and memory in the hippocampus, as well as getting her manuscript with Dr. Pulver's finalized and published.

After discovering her passion for public health over traditional healthcare, she is currently exploring potential career paths in the field, including epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, and occupational health. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sleeping, playing video games, and spending time with her friends.

Katya Frazier, CHEM 160 SIL

Katya is a biology major, minoring in both psychology and chemistry. Her background as a Russian-American adoptee from Siberia has given her the ability to have a never-ending thirst for learning. She challenges herself to explore as much as possible in her free time, such as rock climbing, soccer, flag football, and snowboarding. If she is not at the gym, she is finding a new hiking trail somewhere in California. After being exposed to a 2024 summer internship in North Carolina where a laboratory was using zebrafish as a model of disease, Katya wants to pursue a research career in behavioral neuroscience and someday run her own laboratory. She strives to continue developing skills and understandings about us, as a community, and how we function to be our best selves.

She plans to join an MD/PhD program funded by the US Navy in pursuit of becoming an officer anesthesiologist and doing research.

Hi, my name is Nicole and I am in my 2nd year at 爆料社区 as a Psych Science major. I am a transfer student from Palomar as well as a San Marcos local. I have been passionate about psychology since high school and want to pursue a career in social psychology. My favorite topic within psychology is abnormal psychology, learning about how various mental health conditions impact people's lives. I am also a member of the Orientation Team so sometimes you can find me in the Dean of Students office. When I am not studying on campus, I like to be at home with my family and 2 dogs. I play video games, listen to music, and read in my free time!

I鈥檓 very passionate about working with children and am striving to work as an elementary SLP! When I can, I work as a substitute teacher. My passions include traveling, painting, going to the beach, and playing with my dog, Ani.

Matthew Morreale, SLP 391

Matthew is in Cohort 16 of the M.S. SLP graduate program. His areas of interest include aphasia, traumatic brain injury, motor speech disorders, and neuroscience as it relates to speech and language development. He is open to working with either children or adults in his future career as a speech-language pathologist and is excited to explore all the wonderful aspects of the incredibly vast and important field of speech-language pathology further. In his free time, you may find Matt writing or performing music (yes, he is also a musician), running, weight lifting, watching a movie at the theater, or spending time with his family, two cats (Momo & Luna), and his fiancee. Matt is excited to be the Supplemental Instructor for SLP 391 and he hopes to positively impact each student's learning experience.
