Program Details

Earn your BS in Cybersecurity through a convenient hybrid format designed for busy South Bay students. Take most of your classes online while building hands-on skills and professional connections during one in-person course each semester at ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø at Chula Vista. Stay close to home while preparing for high-demand careers in technology and security.  

  • Online Flexibility: Most courses in the cybersecurity program are delivered online, giving you the flexibility to balance school with work, family and other responsibilities while staying on track to complete your bachelor’s degree.
  • In-Person, Local Experience: Once a semester, you will meet on campus at ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø at Chula Vista for a designated course focused on applied learning, team-based problem solving and direct interaction with faculty and peers. 

This hybrid format gives you the best of both worlds â€” online convenience and face-to-face connection in your own community.

Applications to the hybrid Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program in Chula Vista are reviewed on a rolling basis; apply at any time! However, priority is given to applications that are received by these deadlines:

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program you must complete the prerequisite courses and satisfy the CSU and transfer requirements listed below. 

  • CSU Transfer Requirements
    • If you have less than 60 transferable semester units (less than 90 quarter units), you must complete the  
    • If you have more than 60 transferable semester units (more than 90 quarter units), you must complete the . 
  • Prerequisite Courses

    The following courses are required for admission (i.e. students cannot be admitted without successfully completing the courses): 

    • Oral Communication (1C) 
    • Written Communication (1A) 
    • Critical Thinking (1B) 
    • MATH 160 
    • MATH 270
    • CYBR 210
    • CYBR 232

    The following courses* are encouraged, but not required, to be completed prior to admission: 

    • Physical Science (5A) 
    • Life Science (5B)
    • Physical or Life Science Laboratory (5C)
    • CYBR 110
    • CYBR 112
    • CYBR 242
    • CYBR 262
    • CYBR 272
    • CYBR 282
    • MATH 242

    *Applicants are encouraged to complete the above courses prior to admission. These courses will not be offered as part of the BS in Cybersecurity program, and applicants admitted to the program missing any of the courses above will need to complete them in order to earn their degree at ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø. Admitted students should contact one of the BS in Cybersecurity advisors to help develop a plan to complete the courses. 

    If you hold certain CompTIA or CISCO certifications, you may qualify for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL). To find out which courses are transferable from your community college and which certifications are eligible for CPL, please refer to our â€‹â€‹.
