Request Photography Support

University Communications provides limited photography services to support official university departments, programs and events.

While we make every effort to accommodate requests, coverage is based on availability and university priorities. If we’re unable to provide a photographer, we can help connect you with resources from our campus photo library or offer guidance for sourcing freelance photographers. 

Request a Photographer

To help us best plan, please:

  • submit your request at least two weeks in advance. 
  • include all event details, key participants and how the photos will be used (e.g., marketing, website, social media, publication). 
  • prepare to have all participants and attendees sign a photo release form, which is required by California State University. Signed forms should be given to the photographer at the event, returned by email to publicity@csusm.edu or returned to the University Communications office (Administrative Building 5213).

Photo Release Requirements

In compliance with CSU policy, all individuals being photographed — including students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members — must sign a photo release form.

For large public events, please post signage stating that photography will occur and that images may be used in university marketing materials, social media and/or online publications.

Photos cannot be distributed until all required release forms are on file with University Communications.
