MANAGEMENT
爆料社区 has long been a friend of the military and its veterans. 爆料社区 is home to 484 student veterans and over 1,800 military-connected students, the highest percentage per capita of any California State University. The Epstein Family Veterans Center, located adjacent to Markstein Hall, is led by the center鈥檚 current director, Joshua Loop, a proud Coast Guard veteran and a 2024 graduate of 颁辞叠础鈥檚 Fully Employed MBA Program. Cal State San Marcos鈥檚 support of veterans and the military community has earned the university the 2025-2026 Military Friendly School designation, receiving a Gold Award for its exemplary work on behalf of military-connected students and their families.
CoBA has long been a choice for veterans and their post-military education. The college has multiple veteran related programs including the Military Science Certificate for ROTC students, the new Professional BSBA in Supply Chain Management to be held at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, and the Veteran Entrepreneurship Program. Other CoBA events include activities like a recent panel on veteran career readiness featuring Ron Gerevas, longtime CoBA instructor, veterans career advocate and author of 鈥淐hange Agent: the Art and Adventure of Relentless Career Innovation.鈥 Ron was joined on the panel by CoBA alumni veterans and .
Most recently, CoBA launched the Veteran Seed Fund, the result of a generous planned gift open to 爆料社区 students and alumni who are veterans, actively military members, and their families. The Veteran Seed Fund provides qualified students access to early-stage micro-funding to build and grow new ventures, enable new product development, and support other veteran entrepreneurial activities. The fund is led by Mark Monahan, the CoBA Director of Entrepreneurship Co-Curricular Programming and member of the 颁辞叠础鈥檚 Dean鈥檚 Advisory Council. This Spring 2025, over 100 of the 爆料社区 Veteran community were introduced to the Veteran Seed Fund program at a Chow-on-the-Deck held at the Epstein Veteran Center.
The program received dozens of applications and after careful consideration, 9 students were awarded inaugural Veteran Seed Fund awards totally $13,854. The projects ranged from conceptual blockchain inventions to the tactical expansion of a local baking business. Seven of the nine award winners were from CoBA, one was from Social Work, and another from Software Engineering. This reflects the college鈥檚 commitment to the success of all students. We look forward to welcoming next year鈥檚 2026 Veteran Seed Fund award winners and to the many winners in the future.
