SWIFT Programs Scholarship

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please submit by April 30th, 2026.

Incoming freshmen apply to 爆料社区 online through the traditional California State University (CSU) application process known as . The application period for general admissions to CSU San Marcos typically opens in October of each year. Application deadlines may vary from year to year. Please consult the Office of Admissions website for information on specific application deadlines. During the 爆料社区 application process, students indicate their intended major, Public Health or Human Development: Counseling Services Concentration and may also express their interest in participating in SWIFT.

Students admitted to the university as a Public Health or Human Development: Counseling Services major may apply for one of 40, annually renewable SWIFT scholarships. Students will be notified by email/phone of their scholarship status during the spring semester prior to starting at the university. Students who meet ongoing scholarship requirements during their academic years at 爆料社区 will receive a $4,000 annual stipend starting the summer after their first year

At this time SWIFT Scholarships and programming are only accessible to students in the B.S. in Public Health or B.A. in Human Development: Counseling Services Concentration. If you did not apply to either of these academic programs at the time of your application and wish to change your major, you will be required to change majors and contact SWIFT Health Programs at swifthealth@csusm.edu 

SWIFT Scholarship Allotment

The standard award is $4000 annually per student.

Scholarship Process

  • There are a total of 40 scholarships available for Fall 2026 first-time freshman.
  • The scholarship request period will be open until all funds are allocated. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, please submit by April 30th, 2026.
  • Students will apply to the SWIFT Scholarship (see "Step Three: Complete the Scholarship Form" below) through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. Please be aware that there are two narrative questions which will require uploading responses as separate documents.  
  • Minimum Eligibility Requirements

    Students who wish to apply for the SWIFT Scholarship must meet both of the following requirements:

    • Be admitted as a 爆料社区 freshman for the Fall 2026 semester. 
      • Students admitted as transfers are not eligible to apply for the SWIFT Scholarship.  
    • Understand that the SWIFT Scholarship is directly connected to an interest in and commitment to completing an accelerated, 3-year SWIFT Health Programs degree in Public Health or Human Development: Counseling Services. 
      • Students who are accepted into the SWIFT program must already have declared the 3-year degree in Public Health or 3-year degree in Human Development: Counseling Services as their major.
      • Students whose goal is to complete a traditional, 4-year B.A. in Human Development: Counseling Services Concentration degree or 4-year B.S. in Public Health degree are not eligible to apply for the SWIFT Scholarship.    
  • Step One: Review Scholarship Criteria

    SWIFT Scholarships are awarded based on several different criteria, including the following:

    • Socioeconomic Status
    • Languages Spoken
    • Housing Insecurity
    • Foster/Child Welfare
    • First-Generation College Status
    • Historically Underserved Population
    • High School GPA
    • Future Career Goals

    Please note that we review scholarship applications holistically and have 40 scholarships to award. We encourage all interested students who meet the minimum eligibility requirements to apply.

  • Step Two: Answer Narrative Questions

    In order to address the criteria noted in Step One (see above), students must answer both of the following two narrative questions. We recommend typing your answers in a Word or Google doc, so that 测辞耻鈥檒濒 be ready to enter your content into the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships website. 

    Narrative One

    In 300-600 words, please share the social or financial challenges 测辞耻鈥檝别 experienced and how 迟丑别测鈥檝别 impacted you. Then explain how this scholarship could make a difference in your life. 

    Narrative Two

    In 300-600 words, please describe your professional aspirations. What career/s are you working towards? How do you see this program helping you achieve your career goals?

    You can upload your answers directly to the request form (see step three).
