Trip Description
This trip gives students the opportunity to paddle 2.5 miles around Mission Bay鈥檚
Vacation Island. You will be accompanied by UCSD instructors and be allowed to cross
under bridges that are normally off-limits to renters. The paddle lasts through sunset
and extends into the night, allowing students the chance to paddle by moonlight. UCSD's
instructors offer guidance and personalized feedback as you paddle, allowing you to
make the most of the class.
Upon registering for this trip, you can anticipate an informative email approximately
one week prior to the departure date. This email will provide essential details such
as, trip meet-up times, the comprehensive trip itinerary, recommended items to bring,
and more.

Please Note
It is strongly recommended that you feel comfortable on a paddleboard or kayak before
signing up for this course. It is two hours of paddling, with one rest/stretch break
granted at the halfway point. Additionally, you will be paddling in the dark, which
is a great way to take in the beauty of the bay, but not if you鈥檙e uncomfortable using
the equipment. Participants must acknowledge that they are water-safe (able to swim 50 meters and
comfortably tread water).
Note that activities are subject to change based on weather, vendor cancellations,
or other unforeseen circumstances.
