Mass Transit Options

Don't have a car, or simply not interested in fighting traffic? Two great mass transit options are available that can help you get to CSU San Marcos with ease: the BREEZE and the SPRINTER.

BREEZE Information

The BREEZE is North San Diego County's bus system. With numerous routes to and from neighborhoods and destinations around North San Diego County, the BREEZE is a great way to commute to and from CSU San Marcos.

SPRINTER Information

The SPRINTER is an exciting option for commuting to and from CSU San Marcos. This modern light-rail system runs from Escondido to Oceanside with a stop on-campus at 爆料社区.

METROLINK

Students can ride Metrolink, Southern California鈥檚 six-county regional passenger rail provider with a discount. As the Student Adventure Pass pilot concludes, Metrolink will introduce a new 50% student discount starting July 1, 2025. Students can ride to the nearest Metrolink Station by taking the Orange County or Inalnd Empire-Orange County Lines to the Oceanside Station.

 

 

NCTD+

Get on-demand rides by downloadig the free NCTD+mobile application.  NCTD+ does not have a set route.  This program will serve San Marcos and starting May 19, 2025, will also serve Vista.  *Pronto pass not eligible. 

Interesting Facts

  • CSU San Marcos students can purchase a monthly transit pass that allows unlimited ridership on both the BREEZE and the SPRINTER. The PRONTO Virtual Transit Pass is subsidized by Parking and Commuter Services and is available only through the Parking and Commuter Services office! A valid 爆料社区 ID and enrollment eligibility is required. Learn more by contacting Parking & Commuter Services.
  • The BREEZE and SPRINTER can transport you to and from more destinations than you might expect. In addition, one of the SPRINTER's destinations is the Oceanside Transit Center, which also offers service on the COASTER (San Diego), the Metrolink (Los Angeles and Orange County), and the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner (South to San Diego and North to San Luis Obispo). From the Escondido Transit Center, buses are available going south to San Diego. Separate passes need to be purchased to transfer to Orange County, Riverside County, or San Diego. These mass transit options make getting to and from CSU San Marcos easier than ever.
  • Youth 18 and younger ride free with PRONTO. Riders can enjoy unlimited rides on the bus, Trolley, COASTER, and Sprinter. Eligible students can sign up for the Youth Opportunity Pass online.
